Harriet Harman drops in
On Saturday 24th March one of the band's patrons, Harriet Harman, dropped in on us to listen to our end of term concert. She was obviously impressed as she included it on her blog
and then the children were inspired to arrange themselves into an impromptu photoshot...
Dulwich Festival Concert
The band have been invited to play at Dulwich Festival in Dulwich Park on Sunday 20th May at 3.30pm. Fingers crossed for good weather!
Xmas 2011 Concerts
The band had 2 great concerts in the lead up to Xmas 2011. We played at London Bridge station on the 8th of December and at Borough Market on 17th December. Boths concerts were very successful. The London Bridge concert featured both the junior band and the senior band while the Borough Market concert was just the senior band (sadly there was not enough room for the junior band as well).

Concerts
The band played several concerts in 2011 - we played at the Dulwich Festival and the senior members of the band played at Victoria station on the day of the Royal Wedding - both these concerts were a great success. we are looking forward to playing at London Bridge station on the 8th of December 2011 - details to be confirmed closer to the time.

What we do
Southwark Children’s Brass Band provides weekly music tuition and training in brass instruments for around 50 children from the London Borough of Southwark from all backgrounds. We encourage children to enjoy the challenges of making music, by learning on their own as well as learning and playing as a group, giving them self esteem, self discipline and confidence that will be with them for the rest of their lives.
Rehearsals
We rehearse every week during term-time at Peckham Park Primary School in South London from 9:30am - 11:30am.

Our History
Southwark Children’s Brass Band has grown from the work of the Southwark Children’s Foundation charity, which was established in 1978 to give underprivileged children the opportunity to experience art, music and culture.
